Biography

Originally from London, Sam Lewens has spent most of his working life in the North across Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester and Salford, enjoying a highly varied career in linear and digital production across a range of genres. Highlights include being Exec Producer of Dragons’ Den, looking after the portfolio of TV, Digital, Board Games, Apps and Books for 5 years and a spell at CBBC as Creative Director, where commissions included returning series The Dengineers, Appsolute Genius with Dick & Dom and Blue Peter: You Decide, where viewers chose Lindsey Russell as the new presenter.  Sam was also part of the launch team for The One Show where he was SP of the Current Affairs output, and gave Adil Ray’s character Mr Khan his first outing on TV as part of a documentary for the Mischief strand looking at political correctness, called Is It Coz I Is Black?

Most recently Sam has been the editorial change lead for myBBC, the major strategic digital personalisation programme, and is currently working with the BBC Academy helping commissioners to have a deeper understanding about the opportunities of the digital world.
